Port Douglas Valley Retreat Info
Port Douglas Valley Retreat is a beautifully designed 'Queenslander' style house featuring wide verandahs, high ceilings and extensive use of local timbers.
Nestled beneath the prominent landmark, Black Mountain, at the head of the picturesque Mowbray Valley. The Mowbray Valley was the hunting ground for the Chabbuki (Tjapukai) tribe of aborigines who moved through the valley on hunting trips between Port Douglas and Mona Mona camp near Kuranda.
The Retreat is the site of the original Black Mountain Joinery - indeed many of the building’s timber features had been harvested and hewn in situ.
Quiet and secluded Port Douglas Valley Retreat is the perfect base for exploring the Great Barrier Reef, the World Heritage listed rainforests of the Daintree and the beaches at Cape Tribulation. The gateway to the Daintree Coast, the Daintree River Ferry, is situated just 45 minutes drive north of the Retreat whilst a 12 minute drive allows you to soak up the village atmosphere of Port Douglas.
Comfortably sleeping 7 guests, both main bedrooms have ensuites and a queen bed, while the 'sleep-out' has a 4 poster queen bed. Bedroom 1 has a single bed as well.
The house has 2 bathrooms as well as a private outdoor shower in the garden by the swimming pool.

Getting There:
If your journey begins at Cairns International Airport or Cairns City you will head north along the Captain Cook Highway. The Captain Cook Highway is a scenic highway that winds alongside the coast heading to Port Douglas and Daintree National Park.
Port Douglas Valley Retreat is a leisurely 50 minute drive, punctuated by rocky headlands and boulder-strewn points, pristine sandy beaches and tropical rainforest – in a sense an experience just getting to your holiday destination.
You may, however, wish to stop and shop for your provisions/essentials enroute. The Smithfield and Clifton Beach shopping centres are conveniently located on the highway just 10 and 20 minutes (respectively) north of Cairns Airport.
4 kilometres before the Port Douglas turnoff, turn left into Tresize Road (which becomes Spring Creek Road) and continue on for another 3 kilometres to Grays Creek Terrace.

What a beautiful retreat in the trees and wilds of Queensland! Easy drive into Port Douglas for shopping, reef tour, dining, etc, but wanted to spend down time with my family right there!
