PORT DOUGLAS CARNIVALE - 2016 starts on the 14th May

Absolutely every reason you need to hang out in Port Douglas!  

For 10 balmy days and nights each May, Carnivale takes over the seaside resort village of Port Douglas.  A magical festival held in the far north village of Port Douglas.  

CARNIVALE sails into tropical North Queensland with an exciting line up of events for locals and visitors alike.  Showcasing the natural wonders of the Daintree Rainforest, Four Mile Beach and the soul of Port Douglas, the people. 

Indulge in Tropical norths beautiful Seafood, Tropical Fruit wine, local restaurants, hawker markets, entertainment, music, arts, plus plenty of family fun for all ages. 

Carnivale is one of Australia's premier visitor attraction events and kicks off the season. 

The festival will start 14th May with Wonderland Spiegeltent located at Dixie Park.  Presenting a world class programme of circus cabaret comedy and music.  Resplendent with stained glass windows and wooden floorboards, intimate booths and festive lighting the 1930s Vintage Belgium dance hall Spiegeltent experience is a feast for the senses. 

Leading into the Carnivale weekend May 20 to 22.

Port Douglas is famous for balmy nights and days and along with Spiegeltent, Port Douglas Carnivale presents Port of your Fork luncheon a traditional longest lunch with plenty of exciting twists and turns, delicious food, wine and company. 

Carnivale Wonders of the World Macrossan Street Parade is a family highlight with spectacular colour and lights.  

Family Beach Day:  Build a magnificent sand castle and see amazing sand art, Beach volleyball, face painting, market stalls, family entertainment, 

Saturday Night:  Port on Your fork Food and wine festival. 

Container art exhibition

May is the perfect time to stay within the seaside resort village and its surrounds.  All events are walking distance from each other and Macrossan St.   

Carnivale showcases the beauty of the region.  Contrasted with the waterfront parks overlooking the coral seas, coconut trees, spectacular Four Mile Beach and the waterfront marina.

It attacts over 20,000 visitors, with the vibrant mix of tourists and visitors really making the region shine at its very best.

Getting there:  Qantas, Virgin Blue and Jetstar have daily flights to Cairns. Exemplar Chauffer Coaches offer transfers between Cairns and Port Douglas.
