Nautilus is the Ultimate Outdoor Tropical Dining Experience...
The 58 year old Nautilus Restaurant is nestled into Island Point Hill in picturesque Port Douglas amid a beautiful lush tropical garden setting.
Guests enter along a hidden pathway from Macrossan Street, the main street of Port Douglas village, to discover an awesome restaurant that is like stepping into another world.
The restaurant is truly unique; it combines the wonderful elements of a tropical paradise with elegant dining to create the ultimate outdoor dining experience. Nautilus features 3 different areas each with its own unique ambience:-
The Courtyard is the original restaurant dining area, transformed from a grassy slope 50 years ago to the majestic paved wonder it is now. Not that you could really describe the courtyard as a room, on clear nights the only ceiling is the fronds of the coconut palms 60 feet above.
The Forest Deck was constructed around 12 years ago to immerse diners in the beautiful tropical forest gardens of the property. The Forest Deck also offers a wonderful private area for larger groups and functions.
The latest addition to the Nautilus property is the Canopy Lounge, a large deck at tree top level that places guests among a canopy of trees. This is the best place to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail and also provides diners with an area to retire to at the end of the meal for a quiet coffee or liqueur.
Not only is the ambiance outstanding but the five star food and five star service will exceed your expectations. Dishes have been developed around the natural flavours of the tropics, prepared and presented to compliment the Restaurant's Far North Queensland location and elegant dining status. An A la Carte menu, Seven Course Degustation Menu and Vegetarian Menu are available. The wine list is extensive, featuring many rare and unusual wines.
With fifty two years of continuous operation on the same site, Nautilus remains the icon restaurant of tropical Queensland with a history matched by very few Australian restaurants.
To preserve this experience, Nautilus regret they cannot accommodate children under the age of 8 including babies.
